NovelDelhi,Dec26: TheCentralBureauofInvestigation(CBI)hasgot3-daycustodyofVideoconchairmanVenugopalDhoot,damaged-downMDandCEOofICICImonetary institutionChandaKochharandDeepakKochharinconnectionwiththeICICImonetary institution-Videoconmortgagefraudcase.
TheCBIimplyacknowledgedtheyhavesoughtcustodyastheydesiretoconfront’all’ ofthem.Earlierintheday,Dhootbecame as soon asarrestedbytheCBI.Itcomesthreedaysafterthearrestofdamaged-downICICIBankmanagingdirector,ChandaKochhar’sarrest.HerhusbandDeepikaKochhartoobecame as soon asarrestedinconnectionwiththesamecase.
Dhoothadbeenpuzzledseveraltimesoverthepastfouryearsandbecame as soon ason the present timearrestedonthebasisofdocumentaryevidence,inwhichitbecame as soon asproventhathehadallegedlybribedtheKochharsforavailingloansattheinterior mostmonetary institution.TheKochharsarebeingpuzzledsincetheirarrestonFriday.ChandaKochharsteppeddownastheManagingDirectorinOctober2018afterallegationsofirregularitiessurfaced.

IntheFirstRecordsdataFile(FIR)filedinJanuary2019,theCBIallegedthattherehad beenirregularitiesinsixexcessivedesignateloanspriceRs1,875croredisbursedtoVideoconCommunitybetweenJune2009andOctober2011.
TheCBIclaimedthattheKochharsallegedlygotRs64crorebribefromDhootadayearlier thanthemonetary institutiondisbursedamortgageofRs300croretoVideoconWorldwideElectronicsLtdinAugust2009.
AccordingtoaPTIfile,theCBIhadtakenintocustodyChandaKochharandherhusbandDeepakallegingthattheyhad beenno longercooperatingwiththeinvestigation,andgivingevasivereplies.ChandaKochharhasdenieddataofanypecuniarytransactionsbetweenherhusbandandDhoot,thecompanyhadclaimedat some stage inremandproceedingsataCBIParticularCourtinMumbaionDecember24.SeniorimplyAmitDesai,performingfortheKochhars,hadopposedtheremand,announcingthe”mainborrowerofthemortgagehasno longerbeenarrested,andthepresentaccusedhad beenno longerthebeneficiaryofanyamount.
Desaihadalsointroducedtothecourt’switnessaletterwrittenbytheICICIBanktotheCBIinJuly202Ipointing outthattherebecame as soon asnowrongfullosstoitinanyofthetransactionsunderneathquery.
TheCBIhadnamedtheKochharsandDhoot,alongwithfirmsNupowerRenewables(NRL)managedbyDeepakKochhar,SupremeEnergy,VideoconWorldwideElectronicsLtd,andVideoconIndustriesRestricted,asaccusedintheFIRregisteredunderneathIPCsectionsassociatedtoprisonconspiracyandprovisionsofthePreventionofCorruptionActin2019,theyacknowledged.
TheCBIhadallegedthatICICIBankhadsanctionedcreditservices and productstothetuneofRs3,250croretothefirmsofVideoconCommunitypromotedbyDhootinviolationoftheBankingLawAct,RBIpointers,andcreditcoverageofthemonetary institution.
Itbecame as soon asalsoallegedthatasasectionofthequidproquo,DhootmadeanfundingofRs64croreinNupowerRenewablesthruSupremeEnergyPvtLtd(SEPL)andtransferredSEPLtoPinnacleEnergyBeliefmanagedbyDeepakKochharthruacircuitousroutebetween2010and2012.
